• Can you tell us something about yourself?
Vishakha Verma is the author of ‘Vanilla Drops’. Her debut book is a compilation of 150+ poems on self-love, healing, and life. She holds an MBA in Finance but is closely tied to the creative arts field with an additional degree in Fine Arts – Painting from Lalit Kala Kendra.
• How is your book different than others?
Vanilla Drops explores and expresses day to day emotions in the form of micro poetry and minimalist sketches.
• Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
I take personal experiences and string them together with the most simple words to express my thoughts.
• What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your book?
I realized that writer’s block is really hyped up and if one stays calm and patient they can dodge it.
• What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
I am at my most creative during the late hours of the night. I work on my writing after 11 pm. So I’m done with my day and I have no one to disturb me.
• What do you think makes a good story?
Personal expressions of speech add so much of life and realistic sentiments to your work, which in turn makes it so much more relatable to the audience.
• What is your writing process like?
I jot down simple phrases or sentimental feelings and work around them to deliver the thought or feeling I am trying to express with the aim to make it impactful and deep meaning.
• What advice do you have for writers?
I would like to say that no matter what others say or do, just focus on your own writing with no regard to the opinions of those who do not resonate with your style. You are your brand, present it in the way you envision it to be.
• How did this story occur to you?
I would always write when I couldn’t find comfort in the advice of the people around me. It all started as writing small poetic notes to tap into my inner self. I later decided to compile it all and publish it.
• What is the book all about?
The book is a beautiful depiction of the many occurrences in life with the simplest language, yet a powerful impact. Vishakha gives a face to her poems through artistic depictions and sketches. The book sets a cozy environment as you journey through the different moods, some a little more intense than others. With relatable content along with the perfect balance of emotions, the book would send almost anyone down memory lane. A highly recommended read for everyone.
